We are one of the oldest clubs of
Kolkata involved with obsessive commitments towards social welfare services,
although performing Durgapuja was our principle activity for social harmony.
In recent times theme Pujas have
become order of the day. We are also no exception. Last year our theme was “Books – Read and let others Read”. We wanted to send a message that
technology is not a substitute to reading for acquiring knowledge. This year we
are presenting another unique theme “Music”.
William Shakespeare said “Music
is the language of God”. We have decided to welcome Debi Durga and her
family with their language.
Tagore said “Language express emotions and
music is the resting place of emotions”. There will be some musical
instruments all over the mandap to create the musical ambience. We are
highlighting some special instruments which are no more or very rarely being
used.
Incidentally, this year, 75th
Year Birth Anniversary of Legend Rahul Dev Burman which is being widely
celebrated all over India. We take this opportunity to find a suitable place
for Pancham in our ‘Musical Thoughts’ and pay our tribute by dedicating our
Puja in his memory. This is our privilege to mention that Pancham was brought
up in our neighborhood and studied in Tirthapati Institution at Rash Behari
Avenue in his early days.
We have started our Social
welfare project “Service to Humanity” from 6th June, 2014, at Birla
Academy. It has been our latest resolution that we will gear up our social
activities and intensify our service towards sufferers. We have decided to fix
a budget and accelerate our services in a planned manner.
Realising the immense magnitude of
the affliction the society is in today and our own limitations, we have decided
to take one stride at a time. Our primary focus is the under nourished and
under privileged women and children. Hence, Samaj Sebi Sangha has vowed undying
sustenance to the needy few we can reach out to.
Intent on sharing our moments of
joy with those for who happiness is a rarity, we have decided to spend our Puja
this year with such people. Each day of Puja will start with a social event.
Our projects will revolve around providing humanitarian service to all sections
of people and upholding the values of societal development.
We consider “Service to humanity” is not our job
but it is our responsibility.
